Our Four Core Services:
ADVOCACY:
- Training and skills development opportunities are provided to help persons with disabilities to increase their ability to advocate for their own needs. Advocacy is also provided on a state and national level for disability rights and increased accessibility.
PEER SUPPORT:
- Staff and volunteers who have dealt successfully with their own disabilities draw upon their expereriences to help others with disabilities explore options, solve problems, and develop new skills.
INFORMATION AND REFERRAL:
- A library of resources is maintained on a wide variety of topics relating to disabilities. Staff and volunteers will research a topic and compile materials upon request. Referral to other agencies is also provided as appropriate. Assistance is also given in locating: accessible housing, adaptive aids, recreational opportunities, readers and interpreters, and transportation
INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINING:
- Our staff and volunteers can assist individuals to learn attendant management, rights of persons with disabilities, pre-employment skills, money management, interpersonal skills, community resources, daily living skills, and other areas critical to an independent lifestyle.
